KS3 had a fantastic residential at Bendrigg Lodge, filled with new experiences, teamwork and plenty of memorable moments. The trip gave students the chance to step outside their usual routine, build confidence and enjoy a wide range of exciting activities together. Throughout the stay, everyone showed enthusiasm, resilience and a positive attitude, which made the residential a real success.

On the first day, students began by exploring their accommodation, finding their rooms and unpacking. This was a brilliant opportunity for everyone to settle in and feel comfortable in their new surroundings. After that, the group enjoyed jacket potatoes before heading straight into the afternoon activities. Students took part in archery and the sensory swing, working in a rotation of two groups. Each activity encouraged patience, focus and perseverance, and it was excellent to see so many students giving everything a go.

Later in the day, everyone came together for tea and enjoyed spaghetti bolognaise. The evening was a calmer part of the programme, giving students time to relax and socialise after such an active start. They spent time in the indoor cave and sensory room, as well as enjoying some fun indoor games. It was a strong start to the residential and a great example of how students can support one another while making the most of new opportunities.

The second day was just as busy and exciting. The morning began with pancakes, which gave everyone plenty of energy for the day ahead. Students then rotated through a range of activities, including zip lining, bike riding along the woodland trail and kayaking. The kayaking was a particular highlight, as students were able to see lots of wildlife along the canal and stop for a picnic during the activity. Hot chocolate, juice and biscuits were enjoyed in the kayaks, creating a special and memorable experience for everyone involved.

For lunch on the second day, students had sandwiches, soup and homemade shortbread biscuits. In the evening, tea consisted of sausage, mash, gravy, carrots and peas, followed by Eton mess for dessert. The evening activity brought everyone together outdoors around the campfire, where marshmallows were toasted and the atmosphere was warm and relaxed. Bendrigg staff then delivered a presentation and presented certificates to all students in recognition of their participation in the residential activities. This was a lovely way to celebrate everyone’s efforts and achievements.

After another full and rewarding day, students enjoyed a more relaxed evening watching football and playing games on their last night. This gave everyone a chance to unwind, reflect on the experience and enjoy time together as a group. On the final day, students woke up to a full English breakfast before gathering their belongings and heading back to Tor View.

KS3 returned with many happy memories from a residential that was full of challenge, fun and success. The trip showed excellent teamwork, enthusiasm and determination from all students, and it was clear that everyone made the most of the experience.
