This term, our theme is Athletics. We will be practising field and track events in readiness for our Annual Sports Day.

Pupils in 4M already know the importance of warming up our muscles before sport to prevent injuries and the importance of staying fit and healthy.

During the autumn and spring term, pupils took part in Miss Mac's circuit training - both in school and online.

These sessions instilled the importance of all round fitness, hand-eye coordination, aerobic fitness, hydration and routines.

During Athletics this term, 4M will be attending Seaview Leisure Centre in Nelson on Monday afternoons to practice track and field events at a purpose-built outdoor facility. They will take part in long distance running, sprints, low hurdles, foam javelin, throwing skills using tennis balls and long jump.

Pupils will be practising athletic skills including improving their personal best times for long distancing running and sprints and improving distances for foam javelin and throwing a tennis ball.

Pupils will be working in their class bubbles, supported by their staff teams, as directed by their class teacher.

We are certainly looking forward to Educational Visits again and we will be sharing our photographs and successes over the next few weeks.

Here are some video links to remind us that athletics is a very popular and successful discipline in schools in Lancashire and the United Kingdom.
