What is Team Teach?

Team Teach is an accredited provider of positive behaviour management training which aims to equip individuals to understand the complexities of behaviour and work proactively and positively to support its safe management across settings. The Team Teach programme has a strong focus on respect, dignity and compassion, with the best interests of learners kept at the forefront at all times.

Why do we use Team Teach?

We know that by improving our understanding of conduct, we can reduce the need for the use of any physical intervention.

Staff who complete Team Teach training are supported to develop their knowledge of the underlying factors that can influence conduct, allowing them to take a considered approach when supporting learners, even during the most challenging times of crisis. Staff work to develop their understanding of the emotions a learner might experience, taking their perspective into account and working closely with them to ensure that their voice is heard.

The training allows staff to become familiar with a range of de-escalation strategies, equipping them with a wide range of tools that can be used to support each learner's individual needs. Team Teach also promotes a multi-disciplinary approach, with parents/carers and appropriate agencies closely involved in any discussions or strategies in place, maximising understanding and promoting positive outcomes.

Who delivers Team Teach Training?

At Tor View we have three in-house advanced level trainers - Samantha Dillon, Emma Walsh and Ryan Clarke - who complete reaccreditation training annually. Our trainers are responsible for delivering Team Teach across school and are available for ongoing support as required.

How often do staff complete Team Teach training?

We understand the importance of having a thorough understanding of behaviour, acknowledging that there are many factors to be taken into consideration when supporting across different scenarios. As a result of this we ensure that all staff complete yearly refreshers to ensure that they have the tools required to support positive and proactive intervention, reducing any need for physical intervention.
