Oak tree visited the Garage Cafe on our Ewood campus today! All learners took turns to request a biscuit and a drink using their preferred method of communication. Most learners used PECS to communicate what they would like. Oak tree also incorporated Maths skills into their visit! Learners accessing the Maths assessment steps practiced their counting skills both on the journey to the cafe (counting steps, and counting colours of cars) and then by counting out biscuits and straws for their friends. Most of Oak tree learners access our engagement curriculum. These learners worked on their interaction and communication skills and focused on the sensory stimulus around them - especially the lovely smells of coffee and chocolate!
