This term, P7 have enjoyed learning about Acids and Alkalis in Science lessons. In our session this week, we were inspired by Professor Snape from Harry Potter and created our own potions!

To begin the experiment, we created a base liquid by combining red cabbage with hot water. After straining, this left us with our own pH indicator. Following this, we then created numerous potions by mixing the cabbage liquid with a variety of liquids such as lemon juice, sugar water and vinegar. Once we had finished, we then ordered each potion in accordance with the pH scale and discussed which liquids were an acid, pH neutral or an alkali.

We all enjoyed making various predictions and observations during the experiment and were especially excited by some of our results!
