During our Functional Maths lessons, the College Link students have been focusing on fractions and percentages and how these relate to real life situations. In the classroom they have used the calculators on their mobile phones to work out sale prices with various Black Friday deals, such as 50% off, ½ price, 30% off and 3 for 2 offers. They have then taken this skill out into the community and introduced it alongside their money skills. In Key Skills they work on time, communication and money, each student has a personal target and again they practice this skill out and about in the community for various reasons such as reading bus timetables.
