Below you can find P5’s topics from the spring term. There are some learning materials that we used in class and activities that can be done at home!

There are also lots of familiar activities and songs from our key skills lessons.

Challenge: Have a game of hide and seek with a member of your family and use these words to describe where you were hiding. Were you hiding under the table or behind something?

Maybe try constructing a maze in your house or garden and use the directional language to guide somebody through it!

Challenge: Find as many solids and liquids as you can around your house and write them down on the list below. Can you think of any others that aren’t in your house? If you are struggle to write, try drawing them!

Experiment time! If you are prepared to get messy have a go at the experiment below!

Put some cornflour in a large bowl and slowly mix in some water. Feel the mixture with your hands!

It flows and moves like a liquid, however feels like a solid in your hands.

Tip: Add some food colouring to make it more fun!

Creative (History and Drama)

In Creative, we studied Ancient Greece. We looked at how Ancient Greeks lived, what they ate, what they wore and what activities they did. Look through the slides below to recap lots of information about Ancient Greece and have a go at the activities to recall how they lived.

Computing

We studied algorithms in computing. We learnt that algorithms are sets of instructions that produce a desired outcome.

We followed visual algorithms to put our own shoes on and make pancakes for Shrove Tuesday!

Can you follow the algorithms below to make breakfast or lunch for you and the people in your house? Don’t forget to wash up afterwards!

Challenge: Can you construct a maze using household items and construct an algorithm of instructions to direct someone through? Use the directional cards in the Maths activities above!

French

Listen and sing along to the bonjour song. Can you wave and say ‘bonjour’ to someone in your house or maybe through the window to someone outside?

We looked at words for vegetables in French and had a taste of some of them! Look through the slides and listen to the song below to recap some of the French words for vegetables. Can you sing along or repeat some of the words?

Challenge: See if you have any of these vegetables at home. Use the French word for them before having a taste!

Our Music topic was ‘Movement’. Use the resources below to keep your body healthy and moving whilst you are at home.

Why not put on your favourite song and dance along to it? Ask a family member to dance with you!

PE

In PE we have been learning about Athletics and how they originate from Ancient Greece. We have all had a go at running races, javelin and discus and have practised some events for sports day, including the sack race!

Can you try and have a mini Olympic with your family at home? If you have a garden, even better! Have a short race. See who can jump the furthest or highest! Try and throw a ball or other item into a bin or bucket from a distance.

Keep a record of who won each event. If you made some medals as part of the Creative activities above, hand them out to the winners!

PE Activities

The Body Coach, Joe Wicks, is doing a daily PE lesson on Youtube – Get moving every morning!
