We offer two teacher training programmes at ELIP;

  • General Primary (5-11 years old)
  • General Primary (5-11 years old) with Special Educational Needs

General Primary 5-11 with QTS and SEND/Inclusion.

This programme is for people who wish to train as a primary teacher and feel they are more suited to special schools. You would complete at least two school-based training placements; one in Key Stage 1 (Years 1 or 2) and one in Key Stage 2 (Years 3, 4, 5 or 6). Whilst you would typically be placed in a single class for each of these placements, you would be supported to observe and develop your practice in all of these age groups.

You can find out more about this option here.

General Primary 5-11 with QTS

This programme is for people who wish to train as a primary teacher and feel they are more suited to mainstream classes.

What if I'm not sure which route is right for me?

Our programme is very flexible and customisable – it is your journey to becoming a teacher, so needs to be right for you. We offer centre-based training which lends itself to either mainstream or special schools and placements can be flexible so that, if you are on the General Primary (5-11 years old) programme, you can complete periods of placement in a special school.
