Merit Trips and Residentials

Merit Trip and Residentials

Pupils earn one merit per lesson for doing good work, being kind and arriving to the lesson on time. If they produce exceptional work they can earn an extra merit and receive a certificate in assembly. Every half term pupils have the opportunity to go on a reward trip if they have received 95% of their merits per half term. So far this year we have been to laser tag, Grip & Go, Golf Rossendale and the Soccerdome and we have had a Zumba specialist in to deliver a dance session. Next half term we will be going rollerskating.

There are a variety of lunch clubs running through secondary every week such as Art Club, gardening and Karaoke clubs. Key Stage 4 pupils also have the privilege of going to coffee club if they have their privileged pupil band.

Within Key Stage 2, year 3 and 4 pupils are invited to a sleepover residential. This consists of 2 day trips, to Smithills Farm and to the Sea Life Centre, Blackpool. Following the first day trip is a sleepover at school.
For year 5 and 6 pupils, we offer a two night residential. Last year pupils went to Blackpool Zoo, stayed at Coldwell Activity Centre and during day two spent the day in the woods, completing bush craft activities. On day three, we visited the Run a Mok Play Centre before returning to school.
This academic year, during the summer term, year 5 and 6 will be invited to stay at the Wingate Centre and take part in day trips including the Blue Planet Aquarium and Chester Zoo!
Have a look at our school blog for pictures from both the sleepover and residential!

In Key Stage 3 the residential has been to Tower Wood Outdoor Education Centre for the past few years and we will be returning in April. The pupils will be taking part in water and land based activities such as canoeing and hill climbing.

Recent Key Stage 4 residentials have been to London, Edinburgh and York. The trips include taking in the sights such as castles and museums along with cinema/theatre visits in the evenings. A great time is always had by both students and staff!!
