Groupcall - Paperless (Electronic) Communication

As part of our continuing efforts to reduce waste and lessen our negative impact on the environment, the school is working towards using much less paper. The financial savings will enable the school to allocate additional funds to support teaching and learning for our students; we will also considerably reduce our environmental footprint by the reduction in our use of paper and other consumables.

The school has introduced a new electronic system so that communications can be sent via e-mail or text messaging. Letters will continue to be sent in register bags and be posted on the school website, although we would like to work towards reducing this wherever possible. By moving to electronic communication, parents and carers will have easy access to relevant information, leading to fewer lost letters! In time, we would also like to reduce the number of paper consent forms sent to parents and so are considering the best ways to implement this for our school.


Groupcall is our chosen provider for our school Text and Email messaging service and it also offers a Parent App called Xpressions. Communication and information (such as your child’s attendance) can be viewed via the app and so by downloading it you will be helping the school save money, this is because any text messages that we send via Xpressions will be free!

View your child’s information on your mobile or desktop

Groupcall Xpressions is completely free of charge to you and can be installed on your mobile phone or tablet. It supports both Apple iOS and Android devices. Alternatively, you can visit from any internet browser on your computer, laptop or mobile device.

If you have children in different schools and those schools also use Groupcall Xpressions, you will be able to view information on multiple children within the same app and same login.

What do I need to do now?

In order for you to access the messages, it is essential that we have your correct mobile number and email address on our school database (please note, we do not issue you username or passwords). Groupcall will only register one e-mail address and one mobile number per contact and, to maintain access to the service in the future, you will need to ensure that you keep any details up to date. Please contact the school office without delay if you need to refresh your information.

What happens next?

Once your child has started at Tor View School you can setup the app by downloading it; search for Xpressions in the App Store for your device. When the app is active, you will be able to see most of the following (not all will be available until we have expanded the use of the app):

– Free messages sent by the school delivered directly to your Xpressions
– Text messages sent by the school
– Absence monitoring
– Surveys
– In future, consent for school trips and events
