Welcome to Valley College
Our exciting and innovative college provision was launched as Valley College in September 2019, working alongside Lancashire County Council to provide continuing education, independence skill development and work-related training for young adults aged 19 – 25 with special educational needs from our locality. The provision is designed to meet the needs of adult learners with severe learning difficulties who are not able to access local colleges because of either the severity of their learning needs or other social and emotional factors.
Our vision is to create an educational hub at our Ewood Campus that delivers personalised training and support to help young people with special educational needs to:
- Control their own lives and develop their ambitions
- Become valued employers, employees and members of social groups and communities
- Engage in meaningful work-related learning and develop their enterprise skills
- Get a job and live independently
- Secure the best possible post school outcomes
The College is on the fringe of other Local Authorities (LAs) including Rochdale and Bury. The ambition of Valley College is to offer local provision where young people can access knowledge and skills in preparation to live as independently as possible in their local community.
Unique Selling Point
The Valley College provision and curriculum is designed around the concept of PACE: Preparation for Adulthood, Citizenship and Employment. Its local, small nature allows bespoke solutions, responsive to learner needs, with opportunities to develop sustainable independence and employability.
