The Board of Trustees for The View Trust will always endeavour to ensure that joining school(s), as new parties, are able to contribute to the development of the leadership and governance structure. The Scheme of Delegation will evolve in its nature, drawing on experience of other multi academy trusts and The View Trust itself.

The initial Leadership structure of The View Trust, which was established in January 2017, is illustrated in Model 1 below. This model currently applies; it will remain relevant during this current period of development and has the ability to accommodate a number of other schools who may be interested in joining. Further explanatory notes are attached below (Model 1).

As the Trust develops, it is anticipated that the governance model will need to be modified to reflect that illustrated in Model 4 below. Here the Leadership structure will develop in line with the growth of the Trust’s membership. The post of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is a legal necessity and will initially be synonymous with the position of an Executive Principal/Headteacher. However, as further schools are welcomed into the Trust, the position of CEO will ultimately separate from the post of Executive Principal/Headteacher. Further explanatory notes are attached below (Model 4).

A possible example is given below demonstrating how the governance model may be modified as educational institutions become part of the Trust:

Year 1 (2017 – 18) Model 1

  • Tor View Specialist Learning Community
  • Full delegation and the CEO / Executive Principal is a combined post

Year 2 (2018 – 19) Model 1

  • Tor View Specialist Learning Community and an additional School, together with a College provision
  • Full delegation and the CEO / Executive Principal is a combined post

Year 3 (2019-20) Model 1

  • Tor View Specialist Learning Community with 2 additional schools and a College provision
  • Full delegation and the CEO / Executive Principal is a combined post

Year 4/5 (2020-22) Model 4

  • Tor View Specialist Learning Community with up to 5 schools and a College provision.
  • Full delegation where applicable, but not for “sponsored” schools. CEO post would be segregated from the Executive Principal appointments.

Note: It is the intention of the Members and Trustees to ensure that key leadership positions, namely the CEO, Executive Principals, Headteachers and Heads of Schools, must be occupied by Educational Professionals with a proven track record of working in schools.
