Welcome to The View Trust

Welcome to ‘The View Trust’, a Multi Academy Trust (MAT), established in January 2017. Initially we opened as an ‘empty MAT’ with Tor View Specialist Learning Community as the sole academy.

The Trust is proud to be a community organisation serving local children and families. We are committed to working in partnership with Local Authorities, mainstream and special schools from the maintained, academy and independent sectors to support all children.

Tor View is a successful, all age special school catering for children and young people aged 3-19 with a wide range of learning disabilities and physical and sensory difficulties, including autism. Since 2000, the school has been graded as ‘Outstanding’ and holds an accreditation from the National Autistic Society.

The Trust vision was always to establish a MAT bringing together culturally aligned schools where a climate of nurture and respect leads to challenge, aspiration and achievement for all. Working in collaboration we seek to support the provision of high quality education, through self-help and continuous improvement. Our enduring aspiration is to ensure that we offer value for money and maximise the resources available for all pupils within the Trust, the most important being our dedicated and professional staff.

Central to the Trust is the Teaching School and the vibrant East Lancashire Inclusion Partnership (ELIP). Through the ELIP alliance we deliver on our vision of sustainable cross-phase and cross-sector school improvement. Effective School to School support and innovative recruitment and retention strategies support and grow teachers from NQT to Executive Headship. Our well-established offer incorporates Initial Teacher Training (ITT) with the Pennine Lancashire SCITT and a programme of Continuing Professional and Leadership Development (CPLD) for class-based and support staff working in schools. Over the past five years our Teaching School has secured an excellent reputation.

In September 2018, following a three-year successful pilot with Accrington and Rossendale College, The View Trust opened Post 19 Alternative Provision, The Valley College. The College seeks to meet the needs of young adults with SEND preparing them for adulthood by developing essential work and life skills. Students accessing the College experience a range of additional needs which prevent their inclusion at local colleges. Our aspiration is to formalise this provision as an Independent Specialist College.

The View Trust seeks to adopt an inclusive growth strategy and as such is seeking to identify and welcome partners who are keen to develop and grow in unison. We remain committed to open and transparent governance where as new schools join the Trust they can nominate Trustees for inclusion on the Board. All we ask is that new Trustees are committed to furthering the ambitions of the Trust without prejudice or favouritism towards any individual organisation. We pledge to be a united Trust, where all are committed to the stated Vision and Values (hyperlink).

As a Trust our aim is to underpin school improvement providing all our academies with a secure base from which to grow and flourish. We have no desire to promote uniformity and welcome every school’s right to be unique and respond to the needs of their children, families and wider communities.

Should you require further information or wish to enquire about joining our Trust, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
