Ice, Wind, Earth, Fire!
In Key Stage 2 this half term we are learning about ‘The Elements’ in our creative lessons.
Each week we have been learning about a different element. First of all we explored the element ice. We thought about where and when we might see ice, with clues hiding in our frozen ice shapes ready for us to find! Next, we explored ice as we made our own sculptures using ice cubes. Then we made an icy picture choosing colours like blue and silver.
The next element we learnt about was wind. We explored what wind sounds like and talked about how it keeps wind turbines turning, giving us energy to power things! We created our own wind by making fans and using them to move light objects. Lastly we created blow paint art, using straws to explore how the paint moved around when it was blown.
This week we learnt about earth. We explored earth in the environment around us and thought about how we can help to look after it by creating our own compost bags! We used Google Earth to explore different parts of the world and we talked about the different features we could see.
Over the coming weeks we will continue to learn more about the different elements!
