Horticulture in the ISC
Since returning in September, in the Intensive Support Centre we have been focusing on harvesting and maintenance across our weekly Horticulture sessions.
We have worked hard to dig up the summer harvest, learning how to use tools such as trowels safely whilst looking carefully to find the potatoes that had grown.
Once we had gathered all of our summer produce we cleared the raised beds, turning over the soil and pulling up any weeds.
After this we started working on tidying the horticulture area as we experienced and explored the seasonal changes. We worked on developing our independence when selecting and learning how to use different tools to help us complete jobs such as sweeping and shoveling the leaves before taking them to the compost heap.
We watered plants around the department and weeded the borders to keep them looking tidy!
