Welcome to the College Link Home Learning page

independence

In the College Link class we work hard on all of our independent living skills. Please find on this page a range of resources and activities to take part in while we are unable to attend school. We shall be sending out home learning packs within the next few weeks. We will also be updating this page with useful links and information so please keep checking the page for updates. We appreciate that some students may not have access to a printer and so wherever possible we will try to find online links and tools in order to support learning. However see the documents below as we update with relevant materials/work.

Work Related LearningAs part of our Work Related Learning sessions students have been focusing upon CV’s and cover letters. The current topic this half term is developing interview skills in order to prepare for getting a job/ensuring a place within a college setting in the future. Please see https://www.jobcentreguide.co.uk/ for tips on job seeking if you are a leaver this year.

Careers and EnterpriseAs part of our Careers and Enterprise sessions we have been exploring the types of jobs available within the retail sector with a particular focus upon expectations/ requirements and work protocols in preparation for future potential employment.

Key SkillsWithin Key Skills students work on their English and Maths targets from their Life Skills Planner (LSP). Life Skills Planner targets have been sent home as part of a learning pack. Key Skills sessions work to develop money, time, number, writing, reading and speaking and listening skills. All targets were updated as appropriate during our February assessment period. Please could students focus on consolidating the work already done where possible. It would help for this to be done as practically as possible .

ReadingWithin reading sessions students read books of interest that are at a level appropriate to their reading ability. Please take the opportunity to read a range of literature such as books, magazines, online news stories/feeds and comics. In a time where we are limited with what we can do and where we can go it is important to take advantage of reading opportunities as and where we can. As a hobby this can be very enjoyable! If you have any younger siblings read to them!
