Welcome to Care at Tor View School

Tor View School offers a wide range of services, outside of school hours, to provide children and young people with access to further opportunities for learning through play and social interaction. Our PlayScheme is supervised by the Tor View Management Team, HORIZONS After School Care service is coordinated by Mr Patrick Bleasdale and Parent Liaison is managed by Mrs Liz Charles.

Our service aims for all the young people to have the opportunity to:

  • develop their communication and social skills
  • increase their self-confidence and self-esteem
  • become more independent
  • develop their physical and creative play skills
  • have fun!

HORIZONS is based at the Tor View School site and our After School Care services are available to pupils and students who attend our school. However, we are delighted to be able to offer PlayScheme (our Holiday Care provision) to other children and young people with special educational needs who live in the local area. Our offering is fully inclusive, with availability being dependent on having the appropriate staff to meet pupil needs. If you are interested in any of the services we offer, we would encourage families to contact the school directly to further discuss the possibilities available.

Our care provision currently encompasses two services:

HORIZONS provides a range of activities after school for years 1 to 11. These include Fun & Games, Skiing, Cycling, Dance, Cookery, Football and Crafts and Film Nights. During their time at HORIZONS, all children are offered a small snack and a drink before activities begin. Further details are available on the dedicated page of this website.

Holiday Playschemes take place during the school holidays, providing a variety of different activities such as cycling, art & craft, music and cooking as well as trips to the local community and further afield, for example the bowling alley, Boomerang Multi-sensory Centre and the local park. Activities are fully risk assessed and adapted to the needs of the participants, ensuring each child can be included in the activities provided.

Our Holiday Clubs normally run every half term, 1 week during the Easter holidays and 3 weeks over the summer. They are open from 10am – 3pm, with the days varying according to pupil need and available spaces.

Personal Assistant Support Tor View school recognises the significant need for care outside of school hours and is supportive of all our families who are seeking this. Our colleagues are free to undertake commitments in a direct agreement with families and school can offer support by advertising any additional work that may be available. If you are interested in this, please contact Liz Charles, our Parent Liaison, for an appropriate form.

For more detailed information on each of the available services, please contact the school and we will find the right person to assist with your enquiry.
